Is this right for my baby?

What age is the kit designed for?
The kit is designed to start at around 6 months, the age at which the NHS and most paediatric guidelines recommend introducing solids. If your baby is showing readiness signs a little earlier or later than 6 months, that's completely normal - use our Is my baby ready yet? page to work through the signs together.
My baby has already started weaning. Can I still use the kit?
Absolutely. You don't have to start from Week 1. Message us at help@vandme.co.uk and tell us roughly where you are in your weaning journey - which flavours you've introduced, whether you've started allergens and we'll advise which week to start from. Check out the menu page here.

Use code WEEK2 or WEEK3 to begin from the relevant week.

What's in the kit and how does it work?

What exactly do I receive?
Each week you receive two deliveries (Friday & Wednesday), each containing a few days' worth of food. Over the full 5-week programme you receive:

- 35 different fresh purees (100g each)
- 35 different fresh finger foods (20g each)
- A personalised weaning diary to track your baby's progress
- A V&Me feeding set (soft weaning spoon and bib)
- A comprehensive weaning guide
-Access to exclusive members-only content and expert support
How many meals a day does the kit cover?
Each day you'll receive 100g of puree and a 20g finger food. At the start this will be more than enough for the one sitting per day your baby will eating (to account for mess!)

Depending on how much your baby is eating, you can then split the puree into two sittings and use finger food as another to help them get used to having three mealtime sittings per day.
What's the difference between the purees and the finger foods?
Each day includes both. The puree (100g) is spoon-fed and ensures good nutritional intake, your baby can actually swallow and digest it from day one.

The finger food (20g) is designed for your baby to explore independently: picking it up, mouthing it, squishing it. It helps develop fine motor skills, oral awareness and confidence with different textures.

Together, this combination approach gives you the best of both puree feeding and baby-led weaning (BLW).
How does the 5-week progression work?
Week 1 starts with simple single bitter vegetables such as broccoli, kale, courgette - which research suggests helps prevent fussy eating later.

From there, meals gradually become more complex: we introduce combinations, then proteins, carbohydrates, and the three key allergens introduced gradually.

Textures also progress across the five weeks from smooth purees toward lumpier, more textured food. Nothing is random, the sequence is planned by our paediatric dietitians.
Does my baby eat the same thing every day?
No. Every single day is a different meal!35 different purees and 35 different finger foods across the 5 weeks. No two days repeat.
Do I need to cook or prepare anything?
No cooking required. The meals arrive chilled in vacuum-sealed pouches which just need a quick reheating in simmering water (full reheating instructions are provided with your deliveries)

Food, ingredients & safety

Where do your ingredients come from?
We source seasonal, fresh ingredients from the same suppliers used by Michelin-starred restaurants across London.

For seasonal UK produce, we use Nature's Choice and Natoora.

For meat, we use Direct Meats (free-range and fresh).

For fish, we use Daily Fish (sustainably sourced).

There are no frozen, preserved, or processed ingredients in any of our meals.
Do the meals contain any salt, sugar or additives?
None. No added salt, added sugar, artificial flavourings, preservatives or additives of any kind - in line with NHS guidance for babies and children under 5.

Flavour comes from fresh ingredients, herbs and spices only.
Is the food organic?
We use the highest-quality fresh seasonal ingredients, many of which are sourced from farms that use sustainable or organic practices. Not every ingredient carries an official organic certification, but our sourcing standards are high and we'd always rather use the freshest seasonal produce than insist on a certification that sometimes means produce has travelled further.
Which allergens are introduced, and how?
Over the 5 weeks, your baby will be introduced to egg, fish, and gluten, in that order. Each allergen is introduced with at least 3 days in between, so that if a reaction occurs, you can identify which food caused it. Once introduced, each allergen continues to appear on the menu regularly — consistent exposure is how you confirm tolerance.

Peanuts are not included because our kitchen is completely nut-free; we provide detailed guidance on how to introduce these safely at home.
What if my baby has a reaction to one of the allergens?
Stop feeding that allergen immediately and follow the NHS guidance on allergic reactions in babies (seek emergency care if severe).

Once you know which allergen your baby can't tolerate, contact us at help@vandme.co.uk and we'll adjust all remaining deliveries to exclude it.
Is the kit dairy-free?
The meals in the weaning kit contain no dairy ingredients - the weaning kit is inherently dairy-free and suitable for babies with CMPA allergy.
Is the kit suitable for vegetarian or vegan families?
The 5-week programme does include meat and fish - these are integral to the nutritional progression and allergen introduction.

We don't currently offer a vegetarian or vegan version of the weaning kit. If you'd like to discuss this, please get in touch.
How do you ensure the kitchen is safe?
We hold a 5-star hygiene rating and operate under a strict additional hygiene protocol.

All kitchen staff hold food hygiene certificates and undergo regular health checks. We flash-freeze a sample of every dish produced and retain it for 10 days, conducting regular microbiological testing to the highest standards.

All cooking equipment is sterilised with Milton disinfectant between uses, and high-quality sterilised water is used to make all purees.
Who designs the menus?
Our menus are planned by Ruth and Jo, two of the UK's leading registered paediatric dietitians specialising in infant and toddler nutrition. They've ensured that every meal meets NHS and SACN nutritional recommendations for babies in the first year.

Our chefs then cook each dish fresh daily in our Battersea kitchen.

Delivery

Where do you deliver?
We deliver across a roughly 12m radius of our Battersea Kitchen using our own private delivery fleet. Check the delivery area here.
How does delivery work?
Your food is cooked fresh and delivered chilled, straight to your door, on Fridays & Wednesdays each week.

We deliver twice a week to ensure maximum freshness. Meals arrive in vacuum-sealed pouches and should be placed straight in the fridge - they'll keep for up to 7 days.
What time will my deliveries arrive?
Deliveries are made during the morning. We'll send you a notification on delivery day. If you have a specific access requirement (concierge building, gate code, etc.), please add a note to your order or contact us in advance so our team can plan accordingly.
What if I'm not home when the delivery arrives?
Our riders will follow any safe-place instructions you've given us. If you haven't provided one, they'll attempt contact and leave a note with our number.

We'd strongly recommend giving us a safe-place or a neighbour's address as a backup to avoid your food sitting out for too long.

If a delivery fails, contact us at help@vandme.co.uk and we'll do our best to rearrange.
Is delivery included in the price?
Yes. Delivery is included in the kit price — there are no extra fees.
Can I pause deliveries if I'm away?
Yes, with notice. Just let us know your dates in advance and we'll pause your programme and pick up exactly where you left off when you're back.

Your baby won't lose any progress — the weeks simply resume from where you stopped.

Pricing & payment

How much does the kit cost?
The 5-week kit is £200. This works out at £40 per week, or roughly £2.85 per meal — covering a freshly prepared puree and finger food, daily, for 5 weeks, with delivery included.
Can I pay in instalments?
We don't currently offer a buy-now-pay-later option. If this is a barrier for you, please get in touch — we're a small family-run business and we're always happy to have a conversation.
What is your refund policy?
Because our food is freshly prepared to order, we're unable to offer refunds for food that has already been cooked by the kitchen. If you're ever unhappy with the quality of a meal - damaged packaging, something not tasting right, anything at all, contact us immediately and we'll always make it right. Your trust in us matters far more than any single order.

Support & the bigger picture

What happens if my baby refuses to eat?
Food refusal is completely normal in the early weeks of weaning - often it's not rejection, it's just unfamiliarity.

Babies can need to be offered a new food 10–15 times before they accept it. Our weaning guide and diary will help you track what's been offered and spot patterns.

You also get access to our expert content and can reach our team directly if you're worried. Food refusal does not mean weaning is failing.
What if I have questions during the programme?
You'll have access to our exclusive members-only content including expert video guides, articles and live Q&As with our paediatric dietitians.

You can also email us at help@vandme.co.uk or call 020 8058 4593 (Mon–Fri 7am–5pm, Sat 7am–12 noon) any time.

We're a small team and we genuinely want to hear from you.
Can I see the full menu before buying?
Yes - visit our menu page to see the full 5-week programme, including all ingredients and allergen information for every meal.
What happens after the 5 weeks are done?
The weaning kit takes your baby from first bites to a confident, varied palate with allergens introduced.

After that, many families continue with V&Me's regular baby food subscription (designed for 7–12 months) to keep that variety and quality going without the cooking.
